November Newsletter - AGM, New Guard & New Kit!!

Dear [[firstname]]

I hope that everyone is well. Hopefully a short update with a few important updates as the new squash and racketball season gets under way. I have hopefully attached the usual membership figures and bar losses information for those of you who are interested.

AGM Calling

The AGM has been set for Sunday 30th November at 18.00. Reports from the committee, minutes from last years meeting and the agenda will be circulated in due course.

What I do need from everyone are questions for the committee and for the school facilities team. Please email those to phil@thecaudles.co.uk or drop me a message / WhatsApp on 07768 747727 – or of course speak to me.

It is important that questions are posed ahead of the meeting so that they can be addressed at the meeting.

Changing of the Guard

Tony Burgan is stepping down from doing the leagues after 40 years or so!!! I don’t there are many of us that can boast that level of commitment. Tony has refused any kind of recognition other than a mention in the newsletter.

Ben Schur who is taking over the leagues has, I think, summed it up pretty well below;

“Thank you, from everyone at the club, for all of your years of service, even after you came to the end of your playing days. It has made a big difference to us squash players to have the excitement and challenge of playing league matches and you have made that possible. I know the work you have put in has helped juniors progress and that has helped lead to us having Billy and Jaydan as the top two players in the club. They, and countless other juniors, have learned so much about the sport through engaging with the leagues and the trickery of older players.

Not every club is as lucky as ours,

Thank you”

Club Kit

Club Kit has arrived thanks to iPro Sports and the shop that they have set up for us. If there is anything else that people would like to be made available, please let me know. The link below takes you to the shop.

A huge thank you to Steve Nankivell and Belvidere Lifts https://belviderelifts.co.uk/ for their generous sponsorship. The committee would like to encourage as many members to buy a club shirt and want to offer to subsidise your first purchase by £10.

Order have been flowing in for the initial bulk purchase, and thank you to everyone for your response. If there are others who would like to have club kit, and not already had their £10 off, please contact me or any other member of the committee.

Dates for the diary

Friday 5th December - Christmas doubles event

Monday 15th December - The school are carrying out some insulation works to the ceilings of the courts. I am not sure at this stage what this actually entails, but will update when I have more information. Courts will be closed during the day of the 15th December from 08.00-18.00.

Sunday 28th December - Our annual Christmas Severn Hospice Charity squash event

Wednesday night club nights are going well and everyone is welcome to join. Sunday nights are still in full swing, and we are hoping that this gives everyone the chance to come and have a mix in with players you might not otherwise come across.

Max & Ben are looking to organise some group and individual coaching opportunities on Wednesdays to add to club night and provide players of all levels easy access to coaching. If you would like to get involved, please contact Max, Ben or Myself.

If there is anything else that you would like to know about what is going on at the club, please let me know and I will look to include in the next edition of the newsletter.

Many thanks to all the members of the committee for their work in and around the club, as well as the other playing members who contribute to the running of the club and support of the committee.

Bye for now,

Philip Caudle
