Our Survey Says!

Good morning everyone

We have had a request from one of our Student members: Rebecca Wright. If you have a few spare minutes we would really appreciate it if you could read about her Survey and if possible, take part in completing it. It's all for a good cause to help Rebecca with her degree.

"Hello, I am Rebecca Wright, a third-year sport and physical education student studying at Staffordshire University and I play squash at the Shropshire Squash Club. I am doing research on the prevalence of squash goggles when playing. I am going to give you questions in the form of a survey and I am inviting you to be part of this research. You are being invited to take part in this research because you are a squash player at Shropshire Squash Club, and I would like you to contribute to this research.

Squash is one of the main racket sports that incurs eye injuries when playing, whether that injury is coming from the ball, racket, or contact from the another player. I want to learn the reasons behind why people do or do not wear protective eyewear. There have been similar studies from different countries, such as the United States and Australia, but none recently from the UK.

This research will involve your participation in an online survey that is fully anonymous, about your squash eyewear habits. The information recorded is confidential, your name is not being included on the survey, only a number will identify you (for example, person 1), and no one else except myself will have access to your survey.

The survey platform I have chosen to use is called SurveyMonkey and guarantee anonymity when answering the questionnaire. Your participation in this research is entirely voluntary. It is your choice whether to participate or not. If you choose not to participate, all the services you receive at this squash club will continue and nothing will change.
No personal details will be published.

The survey will take about 5 minutes in total and consists of 7 questions. If you do not wish to answer any of the questions included in the survey, you may skip them and move on to the next question.

There is a risk that you may share some personal or confidential information by chance, or that you may feel uncomfortable talking about some of the topics. However, I do not wish for this to happen. You do not have to answer any question or take part in the survey if you feel the question(s) are too personal or if talking about them makes you uncomfortable. There will be no direct benefit to you, but your participation is likely to help me find out more about eyewear habits and the reasons behind why people may or may not wear them.

Before you decide, you can talk to anyone you feel comfortable with about the research. Feel free to contact me before starting this survey if you have any doubts at all please email w0107678i@student.staffs.ac.uk

By completing this survey, I consent to the details listed above and have the right to withdraw my contribution up until the first stage of processing the data.

The survey link is https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/NP5WTKX

You have until 21st February 2021 to complete the survey if you wish to.

Many thanks

Rebecca"
