Some further updates from the booking system. 1. We said from September 1st we would log and record all 'no shows' and 'late cancellations' over the month. There were:- 16 no shows 37 late cancellations A total loss to members of 53 courts, most of which were in the peak weekday evening slot of 6:00pm - 9:00pm. (Equating to a loss of 39 hours 45 mins). This is a real loss of time because out of the 53 time slots only 2 were picked up by members. It appears some members are still 'panic booking' the courts (i.e.booking courts just in case) rather than booking to play a match. This is visible as often the no show/ cancelled courts only have one name showing for the allotted time. Some of these errors can be attributed to the system still being new, some to members forgetting to check in but most are attributed to members just booking on the off chance. At the AGM we will be agreeing penalties for persistent offenders. 2. Booking Names. Please would members add their playing partner to the booking. This helps give accurate court playing usage and also it means both players get a booking reminder on the morning of the game. 3. Team matches. October sees the start of winter county team matches. We have squash teams competing regularly on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening. Racket ball has three adhoc fixtures on a Monday evening across the season. As a committee on behalf of members the following now applies:- > Matches will not start before 7:30pm. This leaves the peak time courts of 6:00 and 6:45pm free to members. > Matches will be restricted to just one home team. Therefore, on each match night there will always be courts available to members the whole evening.
