May Newsletter

Hello Squasharians!

Not a lot to write in this month's Newsletter I'm afraid so it's more of a checking in to say hello and let you know that we are thinking of you and missing you.

We want our club to open as soon as possible and have been in talks with the school about when this will be. They like us are keen to get things moving ASAP. We are (like many other Squash clubs out there) led by England Squash. Once we get the OK from them, we will reopen.

As I mentioned before in last month's newsletter, things will be different when we go back. No one knows how long things will continue like this, until there is a vaccine it seems as though social distancing will be part of our lives for a while. With this in mind the way we conduct ourselves and the measures we need to take when returning to Squash will need to be modified. What this will specifically look like is being discussed at the moment by England Squash but if we need to make some small sacrifices in order to return to a bit of normality, I think that's something we can all do and agree is worthwhile.

In the meantime we hope that you have found the fitness resources we suggested helpful. If you missed them they're listed below.

SquashSkills : https://www.youtube.com/user/squashskills For those of you wanting to specifiaclly improve or maintain your racket finese and body movement, SquashSkills has some great videos on YouTube that can help you whilst you are in lockdown.

Joe Wicks : My kids love him and he's certainly someone who has benefitted from this outbreak. His You Tube channel is https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1 and currently has 2.3 Million followers. His workouts are light versions of HIT Training and are good ways to get you moving and improving your explosive movements and strength. I do them at home with my kids and it's a fun activity to do together.

Metafit : Ryan is well know to members at the club he is also running his sessions online until further notice. Fridays at 6.30 to 7pm. He is also on Facebook under the name of Rapidz Fitness and can be found here:
www.facebook.com/rapidzfitness/

Faith Page: Faith was the Yoga lady/teacher who ran sessions at the club on Saturday lunchtimes and is known to some members already. She normally runs sessions at Bowmere Heath but has moved them online, every Monday 7 - 8 PM until the current measures are lifted. She can be found on Facebook under the Name of Shrewsbury Yoga. Faith would be delighted for members at the club to join her sessions and has agreed for this to be circulated.

She can be found here and there is a chance to view any missed sessions:
https://www.facebook.com/shrewsburyyoga/

Anyway we hope you are keeping well and safe. Keep checking your emails for updates. As soon as we know more and can reopen we will let you know.

Take Care

Scott
