Alexey Golovatyuk is SSC June Player fo the Month!

You may have read in our latest Newsletter that Alexey won June's SSC Player of the Month.Alexey's nomination came from Elaine Radcliffe for playing a cracking hard fought 5 setter in the Summer Sunshine league v Bishop Castle. Alexey never gave up chasing the ball down, even when he was 2-0 down he clawed back to 2-2, then held his nerve with a nail biting 4 match balls each in the final to eventually take the win 18-16! Fantastic Squash.

We caught up with Alexey to hand him the SSC Player Trophy and ask a few questions about his Squash.

Scott: Congratulations Alexey on being SSC's Player fo the month. How does it feel to be given this prestigious award?

Alexey: I'm very proud to be player of the month. It was a complete surprise and shock but I'm really pleased.

Scott: How long have you been playing Squash?

Alexey: I've been playing for 17 years. The first 14 years were without coaching. The last 3 I've had pro coaching and it's made a big difference to my game. I wish I had done it sooner as it takes time to work out bad habits I've picked up.

Scott: What's your favourite thing about Squash?

Alexey: Everything, I love the fitness and playing tough games. I enjoy the mental side of it too. I enjy all games I play but especially the ones where you have to really push yourself.

Scott: What's the best game of Squash you've ever played?

Alexey: I love all the games I've played but I remember this one game in Gurnsey where we played 5 games and it was so close and there were lots of us involved. The games were so close that we lost count of the score and no one knew who won in the end. It was great Squash though.

Scott: Who is your favorite member of SSC to play against?

Alexey: Honestly I like playing everyone. There's no one person that stands out, I just enjoy playing anyone.

Scott: Last question and we save the most important question for last, If you were being attacked by a hamster with a bad attitude, how would you defend yourself?

Alexey: Uhh, I'd shoe it away with my foot.

Scott: That's great Alexey thanks.
