Shropshire Squash Club - Christmas Quiz Friday 16th December

Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah, tis the season to be merry at Shropshire Squash Club. We are not just a squash club, we are equally a social club and you are cordially invited (alcoholic drinks are also available!) to a Christmas quiz on Friday 16th December from 7.30pm.

Are you a family looking to show your quiz credentials up against people who only know things about squash, this could be your chance to take the spoils and have a fun evening.

We couldn’t get Magnus Magnusun, his agent said he is no longer available! …..but at great expense we did hire Ian Tanner and Becky Wright who will be our Quiz Masters for the evening.

This is actually a double header event, we have booked all of the squash courts from 5.15pm so you are free to play any friendlies or league games (Will get onto that below) before we welcome everyone for the quiz at 7.30pm. There will be the full array of drinks and complimentary nibbles available at a fully stocked bar.

Individual entry is strongly encouraged, I will find you a team and table if you are struggling.

Tables are available @ £25 with suggested teams of 4-6 players. This will include a bottle of prosecco per table.

We are also taking this opportunity to remember one of our players who is sadly no longer with us: Neil Jackson. The quiz has a number of different categories, one of which will be all about Neil. We will be doing a charity raffle on the evening* as well in aid of the Cavalier Centre which was a charity close to his heart.

Tickets are £2 (£10 a strip) - we have already had some fantastic prizes kindly donated to us. But we are appealing to members to donate anything they can.

*If you would like to buy tickets, please contact any of the committee who will have tickets to sell.

So don’t delay, drop me a line, reserve your table now, support your squash club and lets have a fantastic end of year get together and find out if brains and squash really can go together.

Mini Leagues – Please note that the December leagues are now up on the wall and the website. The leagues will run until Mid-January so don’t panic if you are struggling to fit games in around Christmas parties and the England football team’s run in Qatar.

Lastly, on Wednesday 28th December, all members past and present plus friends of the club and members of Shrewsbury Squash Club, Castle Country Club, Brookside etc are invited to join us for the Severn Hospice social from 1pm till 7pm. This works the same way as our club night where you play anyone who is down there. All abilities are welcome. Please donate anything you can on the day to a great local cause.

We will be providing food and paying our thanks to our outgoing chairman Rob Nayman, who will be leaving us for Zurich at the end of the year. Hopefully you can pop down and run off your Christmas turkeys and celebrate with us for a few hours.
